妻友社区's economic impact more than $521 million

妻友社区 (GGC) contributed more than $521 million to the economy of Gwinnett County and the Atlanta metropolitan area during fiscal year 2022, according to an 聽released by the University System of Georgia (USG). That鈥檚 up more than $8.8 million dollars over last year.

Including its capital outlay for construction projects, GGC has generated more than $5.8 billion in cumulative economic impact since the college has been included in the study.

鈥淲e are proud of the vital role GGC plays in workforce and economic development in Gwinnett and the region,鈥 said Dr. Jann L. Joseph.

This year鈥檚 report indicates that GGC is responsible for the creation of 3,798 jobs, of which 808 are on campus and 2,990 in the community. In addition, the college now has nearly 12,000 alumni who are living, working and serving in Gwinnett County, Georgia and beyond.

鈥淎s GGC鈥檚 alumni base grows, we鈥檙e seeing the impact of our graduates鈥 living and working in the community and beyond,鈥 Joseph said.

The study was commissioned by the USG and conducted by the University of Georgia鈥檚 Selig Center for Economic Growth at the Terry College of Business. It analyzed data collected from July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022, to measure the USG鈥檚 economic impact on the state.
